View the AAUW Funds diagram to see how funds are structured.

AAUW has more than 100,000 members and donors across the nation as well as 550 college/university partners all working to further its mission.  Since its founding in 1881, AAUW has taken positions on and supported important educational, economic, and social issues.

AAUW is a 501(c)(3) charitable entity, and The AAUW Funds support its work.  The Funds include:

The Educational Opportunities Fund provides fellowships to American women and women from developing countries to pursue higher education in the U.S. and gives career development grants to women returning to work.

The Legal Advocacy Fund works to eliminate gender discrimination on campus and in the workplace and provides aid to women seeking legal redress.

The Leadership Programs Fund develops college women’s ability to lead now and in
their future lives.

The Eleanor Roosevelt Fund supports research on issues important to women.

The Public Policy Fund supports advocacy for policies and laws fair to women.

Contributions to the above funds are tax deductible.

The AAUW Action Fund supports lobbying. Donations to this fund are not tax deductible.

Giving unrestricted gifts to AAUW Funds is the best way to provide general support to AAUW where it is most needed for programs. By giving unrestricted gifts to AAUW Funds, a donor receives the benefit of a tax-deduction, and makes it possible to respond to the most urgent needs and greatest opportunities to break through educational and economic barriers — and makes the biggest impact on women and girls who are working for their fair chance.  It is also possible to restrict tax-deductible gifts to specific funds or programs. See the AAUW Funds diagram for more information.

Make checks payable to AAUW Funds and include the “Lake Washington Branch #WA9017” in the memo section to ensure that the branch is credited for your gift. If you prefer to restrict your gift to a specific fund, please indicate the name or number of the fund (see the above diagram) on your check or any accompanying document. Mail your check to the branch AAUW Funds chair at P.O. Box 1201, Bellevue WA 98009-1201, or to AAUW, P.O. Box 98045, Washington, DC 20090-8045.  Or you can contribute online using our secure website.
